This two day program could be considered our ‘cushy’ trip offering! It’s intended for those wanting sea kayaking instruction combined with a beautiful day tour. We spread it out over two days and you’re on your own for the evening in between to stay in one of Bayfield’s accommodations; a quaint B&B or motel or perhaps a cabin on the water. No roughing it this weekend, we even spoil you with an extra special menu for the lunches each day.

Day 1 is centered at the Living Adventure facility where you’ll enjoy the grounds, landscaping and garden sculptures. Our shaded outdoor classroom areas are ideal places for discussions on the wind, weather and waves of Lake Superior. A morning of paddle strokes, technique and rescues takes place on the water in front of our launch. Next we break for a sumptuous lunch, created and served by our kitchen staff.

After lunch we take off up the shoreline to explore the red cliffs and shipwrecks that are featured on our Shipwreck Half Day Trip. The afternoon paddling gives a chance for a relaxed tour and to absorb and practice newly learned skills. The day wraps up around 4:00; time to get back to your place, shower, and catch a meal and show in Bayfield.

Day 2 takes us on a Sea Caves Day Trip – the signature trip of the area. What makes your group special to our regular sea caves day trip groups is that you have had the previous day of training. That means we can take solo kayaks, which is a plus in the caves as you are able to deftly maneuver in and out of special areas that are prohibitive to the larger tandem kayaks. We can take on slightly ramped up conditions; waves and wind, because by now you are moving fluidly, better balanced and have a keener sense of how to read the water.

The typical group size for our Teaching & Touring programs is six people. This gives the guides plenty of opportunities for one-on-one attention and to share the wealth of knowledge they have on sea kayaking and on the area. Two days of fun and shared outdoor experience with your group brings the added gift of new friendships.
