A world of remote beaches, peaceful sunsets and dazzling coastline lies just south of Cancun and the high impact tourism
of the 'Riviera Maya'. The Caribbean coast of Mexico's Yucatan peninsula, home to the ancient and present day Mayan
people, is rich in cultural and natural history. The old and the new stand in contrast as you journey south down a narrow
land peninsula at the northern edge of the Sian Ka'an Reserve where old style Mexican beach living abounds.
Stemming from a personal vacation here 15 years ago, Living Adventure has developed a comprehensive program of
week long trips based on our valued connections with local friends and familiarity of the area. Along with our depth of
experience in sea kayaking and outdoor adventure programming from our home base 'up North', we offer our Yucatan
trip guests the best of both worlds. An evaluative comment we often hear from enthusiastic trip participants is, "we felt
such an integral part of the area, like we were standing inside the experience, rather than tourists observing from the
outside."
Sea Kayaking Vacations
Picture warm, crystal clear, inviting turquoise water… intimate winding channels and mangrove canopies… quiet-water
inland lagoons… dazzling ocean waves… long stretches of white sand beaches. Paddling environments just don't get
better. Seriously. We've watched beginning kayakers learn and excel here, right alongside experienced paddlers frolicking
and pushing the edge in the surf. The week includes a variety of exceptional day paddling routes and instructional
sessions. Add in; touring Mayan archeological sites, snorkeling both fresh water 'cenotes' (sacred pools of the Maya) and
the World's second largest barrier reef, fabulous birding, walking long stretches of white sand beaches and island roads,
relaxing and enjoying great local foods, and you've got a recipe for your best vacation ever. |

Artful Adventures
All of the activities mentioned above in the Sea Kayaking Vacations are included within the Artful Adventure weeks
PLUS the opportunity to 'give voice to experience' through an exploration of the creative process. Discover how a trip is
enhanced by combining the spirit of adventure with the inspiration of artful workshop sessions. After first accompanying
us for two seasons of Sea Kayaking Trips and then experiencing the Mexican & Mayan Cooking Trip, a Living Adventure
guest comments, "I'll never come down again without joining an Artful Adventure, it added so much to the week". We
offer a variety of thematic Artful Adventures to meet a range of your personal styles. Views of a tropical paradise
surround and inspire open-air workshop sessions in photography, ceramics, cooking, yoga, painting, writing and collage. |

HOME BASED VACATION: Our home for the week is a private 'rancho'; there is no camping involved. The rooms are
double occupancy in quaint cabañas (tropical cabins) with shared bathrooms. Meals and gatherings are in the main lodge
or palapa, a grand structure built in the open-air architecture of the tropics. FLEXIBLE ITINERARIES: This is YOUR trip! The week is a mix of scheduled activities and free time; you will enjoy
the best of group interaction and community with the freedom to be alone or 'do your own thing'. FANTASTIC MEALS: Mango, papaya, pineapple, avocado and a variety of tropical fruits taste like they should down
here. Rico con sabor! During the week you'll enjoy local Yucatecan specialties, fresh fish, tortillas, and the fresh squeezed
lime margaritas just don't get better. Your well being, comfort and enjoyment are at the forefront; all foods are carefully
cleaned and there is plenty of purified water on site. A
STRONG RECOMMENDATION TO COME AS YOU ARE: We cannot over emphasize that no previous experience is
necessary for the sea kayaking trips or with the various art media offered in our Artful Adventures. Novice and
experienced adventurers, artists and international travelers alike are encouraged to join us! PLEASE BRING: a spirit of adventure and willingness to adjust your pace to the tropical culture and
environment to insure your contentment on our Yucatan trips.
